Tetricus II with “limps”

Here a new one I was able to get.

It is a cast local imitation of a Tetricus II ant.
Interesting are the little “limps” sticking out of the sides of the coin. This is where the molten metal flowed in and out the mould. Normally these are clipped off but luckily here they remained.

Pretty cool. But are you sure it’s cast ? I think the details are very sharp on it. Maybe struck on a flan from which the sprues had not been removed after the casting process ?

(The same reverse for these 4 coins but not the same weight !! And not the same obverse. And different process ! Look the right down : an old sesterce recycled)

Did the lion's skin become a bunch of bananas or did the engraver want to show us the ribs ???
